The definition of a designation is the act of pointing someone out with a name, a title or an assignment. An example of designation is someone being named president of an organization. It has a title or a description that helps you identify it.

The above screenshot represents the Designation page. Give designation name data click Add Designation button. Added Designations are displayed in designations tab.
