Objectives of Stock Verification Physical stock verification which involves actual counting, measuring weighing of all items in stock is necessary for the following reasons: • To support the value of stock shown in the balance sheet through physical verification. • To verify the accuracy of stock records.Reconcile the inventory count to the general ledger. They will trace the valuation compiled from the physical inventory count to the company's general ledger, to verify that the counted balance was carried forward into the company's accounting records.
